It is a fortunate life being retired and having the opportunity to travel the Western USA, then later at home to paint those scenes. The memories of both experiences just feels good. Our travels may be at a busy beach or National Park. Or at a remote quiet ranch land or wilderness. But enjoying the ever changing skies, weather, light patterns, and scenery just feels good. Most of my nearly 50 years of painting has been with watercolor. Watercolor brings its own fluid characteristics of variability and delight. The painter has to allow the paint, water, and paper do their thing … and then adapt in unexpected ways. Recently I have worked some with acrylic in the same thin manner as watercolors. Painting in water media with all of its variability just feels good. I live a fortunate life and it feels good.
